Smile How long should it take for a shop to install a Torqueconverter

I found a used Torqueconverter for a good price and it should be here Friday.

This is my question
I'm having a shop put it in. How much time do you think it would take to install?

Along the same vein I'm getting a BMM tranny cooler and am wondering how long that takes?
Also Tranny cooler does not come with an install kit. Are there items I need to get to make that go smooth?

Can anyone think of anything I need to tell the shop about installing TC on a GS400?

I'm so excited. I've been wanting this a long time. Already have the sways, the braces, the coilovers, and the 3.76 LSD.
Tranny cooler might not be here until Monday and I might need to wait until Wed to get enough shop time for install. This is like waiting for christmas.

Smile Install

I' guess it's B&M racing, polished, like the one in pearlpowers thread.

Thanks for the estimate. I am so looking forward to this.

Do you know if I need to get any rubber hoses or anything else for the cooler?

Thanks

TC install by an experienced mechanic should be 4 - 5 hours tops. My mechanic Desmond did it in 4 hours. But then he is an exceptional mechanic. I think the majority of mechanics would take longer than 4 hours for this.

Here's a thread on my install of the TC https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ed+tranny+pics

Generally speaking, they need to prove that the modification led to the failure of the part under warranty. The law will probably vary from state to state so you may want to check into it first. I'm not aware of any failures that can be attributed to either the TC or LSD. Use the correct fluids etc. and a good cooler and should be no problem.
Fortunately, our cars are pretty "bullet-proof"!

3dog - off the shelf high pressure hoses and clamps can be used to get the cooler in line with the stock cooler. The challenge might be attaching it someplace, a bracket and bolt might be needed to attach it some place. Some have installed it low, and some (like me) have it installed up high on the radiator - and I turned the horn around to make room. I actually got a cooler kit from Lee (PearlPower) but I don't know if he's doing those any longer. His kit is excellent with clear instructions.

Bit thanks for the information. I have the thread where you talk about Lee's kit.

Looks like a really slick set up.

I have PM'ed him in an attempt to get one but never heard back from him.

I've got my install appointment set up for next Wed. I'm not sure at this point what to do about this tranny cooler. Have no idea where I would get high pressure hoses and clamps or brackets. Maybe the shop would know. Romini says I don't need a kit. If worse comes to worse I'll leave it off until a solution comes along.

Getting hoses/clamps should not be a problem for the shop at all. Any good performance shop would have installed lots of tranny and oil coolers.

My B&M cooler came with all the hoses etc. from Summit Racing. I think with the cooler you got though, they don't include them because it's a "race" application?
Rather than mount mine with the plastic through-the-radiator type things they give you, my installer made some custom mounting brackets to support the cooler about 1 1/2" or so in front of the radiator. Came out really nice and I like it better than sandwiched up against the radiator core...sorry no pics though.
