Unhappy Squeal At Cold Start

I HAVE A 98 GS400 AND LIVE IN NYC. WE ARE HAVING SOME VERY COLD TEMPS. TODAY IS 13 DEGREES. I STARTED MY CAR AND IT SQUEALLS LIKE A PIG. I TRIED BELT DRESSING AND IT DOESN'T DO sH*&^ T. I OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THE SQUEALING NOISE COMING FROM THE PULLEY ABOVE THE RADIATOR HOSE (TOP PULLEY). THE DEALER EVEN REPACED THE BELT FOR ME A WHILE BACK AND PUT BELT DRESSING ON IT. ANY SOLUTIONS GUYS? WHAT CAN I DO TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM?

Don't know if there is actually a solution for your squeeling other than to try a different brand belt. I realize you stated the belt is new, but when you start to hear the pig sound and your belt is new there obviously is a direct correlation to the belt. Maybe your belt was sitting in the shop sun beaten on a wall before it was installed on your ride....who knows?

I'd hate to see someone give you a mundane answer like "just wait till the belt warms up" you shouldnt have to if the thing is new.

btw....did you spray the belt dressing on the BELT? or did you spray it on the contact points of the belts where they meet the pulleys?

im going to say no

Wd-40 has some of the amazing uses ....

its a lubricant but at the same time it can dry out things that get wet

one example i can think of right now is a distrubitor cap if got wet spray a little wd40 and your good to go

ill think of more later

but like i said i cant be sure

but its worth a shot

I have an 01 with 42K. In the 3 years I've had the car, I have had 2 belts replaced due to that "stuck pig" sound. 1st time was when dealer "cleaned" the engine (I bought as CPO at 10K)
and the last time was this past summer when I spent a weekend in a really hot and humid area off the ocean. Don't know what's up with Lexus belts

I had that squeeling when it's cold, so I sprayed the bolt that's in the center of the tensioner with WD40 and it got rid of the noise.

I sprayed the belt dressing on the pulleys and the belt. I initialy changed the original belt with an aftermarket belt made by Continental Tire Co. That belt work fine, until winter came around. It squealed like a pig. I took it to the dealer and purchased an O.E. belt that belt worked fine the day they put it in. The next day, I started may car up in the morning, 25 degrees outside,, and it started to squeal. took it back to the dealer and they put belt dressing on it. It worked for a while, then the squealing came back. I have an appointment with the dealer this Saturday. I spoke to them on the phone and it probably need belt dressing.. Do have have to do this every winter?

Same here I will try to spray it on the contact poins of the pulleys. In particular, the upper pulley below the intake tube

Which pulley is the tensioner? My squealing comes from the top pulley

Spray the part that's causing the noise, I can't remember if it's a tensioner or a pulley, but they both can be lubricated.

Mine squeaks when cold too. My dealer would not replace my belt even though it CPO. They say it's a wearable item even though there is a TSB for it. Bastards!
