Anyone tried 3.92 gears in GS400
Gust wondering if anyone has tried the GS300 diff (3.92) in a GS400? I know it is popular to run the 3.76 ( still a bit lower than the stock 3.26 GS400 gears) from a Supra Turbo auto. The GS300 diff is sure alot cheaper and easier to get ahold of. Is the 3.92 to low?

2nd those gears in a 400 would knock your top end down to atleast the 120's
now im guessing but with 3.76 gears top speed from what i have read is 135
those gears are pretty high ...while i doubt you would have a problem with off the line start the rest might be a problem
now for arguments sake i dont have those gears nor will i ever
not too mention ...still only one wheel spinning
but if you like try tit out if you get it for the right price and report back

I'm sure it would net better 1/4 mile times but it would prob hurt driveability a little. you'd be flying through the gears though.
BTW- I don't think stock rear end is total one wheel wonder. When I did a little test burnout in my 430 it was posi I think if you're pointed straight the stock rear is "posi" right?

I agree. The difference from 3.76 to 3.92 wouldn't be a big difference at all. Maybe 50-100 RPMS difference while cruising. You'd drop from 135MPH to 129MPH or so. So not big at all. You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference unless someone told you. I've had cars where I've made small gear changes like that, and could scarcely tell in my own car.....
Ok..I did a calculation in one of my programs..these are approx.
At 60mph with 3.27, you'd be turning about 2100RPM
At 60mph with 3.76, you'd be turning about 2400RPM
At 60mph with 3.92, you'd be turning about 2500RPM
At 5500RPM with 3.27 you be going 157MPH
At 5500RPM with 3.76 you be going 137MPH
At 5500RPM with 3.92 you be going 131MPH
(these numbers are with 17" wheels, and don't take into account aerodynamics, resistance, etc..)
