Question

Where can I find the best price for the A/C Filter(the one in the glove box)? Order it from somewhere or buy from dealer? I think it was $40plus last time and I wanted to see if I could get it cheaper. Thanks in advance!

Hi Lexuspilot,

I got the A/C filter element for $29 at www.irontoad.com. This is the cheapest price I've found so far. JM Lexus in Margate, FL charges almost $70 for the filter

Hey guys, what's the criteria when to replace that filter?
I have 10K miles on my car, but it's 3 yrs and 4 months old.
Should I check it (never pulled it out), or just replace it?
I've seen the "door" above the glove box, but I would appreciate if you could elaborate on how to remove it.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Juan Carlos,

I've replaced mine every 6 months. I'm always impressed by the difference between the new filter and the old one, the dirt it gets is amazing!!! (it turns from white to dark gray)

How often you replace the filter highly depends on the air quality in your area. In my city, Caracas, air quality is pretty bad so I replace the filter every 6 months. I would replace the filter once a year in cleaner air/ suburban areas. Since yours is three years old It would be a good idea to get a new one right now to mantain your A/C efficiency.

Replacement is very straightforward. Take out the small plastic panel on the rear part of the glovebox, then reach for the plastic cover behind it and pull it out. You can now reach the frame of the filter and pull it out. Take out the old filter from the plasic frame and replace it with the new filter and put everything back in place! You can check your Lexus owners manual at the Air cond and Audio section for the procedure with pics. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot Miguel; I'll replace it asap. And I doubt you have worse air quality than this town.
