Edited becuase I had a brain fart

2800 is what most NA guys use, the reccomended for FI is 2600. I am pretty sure that this is the norm. I dont think anyone I have heard of uses 2850.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong.

For NA applications the best stall speed to my understanding is 2800. You can check carson toyota or TM Engineering and they both sell 2800 stall TC for the GS.

SRT uses 2850 not sure if thats better since there a very very few that have this stall. Maybe someone can chime in on this TC.

FI people use lower stall TC.

Your right I'm wrong, I confused the numbers. 2800 is the norm for NA then I went to 2600.

1 more thing. im also getting my 60k service. Should i get the TC installed before the tranny fluid flush or will it be ok to have my 60k service first?

I dont think its going to matter cause I think they'll be changing out the tranny fluid anyways. If you have a specific tranny fluid that you'll be buying than get the 60k first and use your tranny fluid with the TC install.

you should do it together with the tranny flush.... why pay double for the same thing (i mean the tranny flush). when you install the tc you are going to drain most of the tranny fluid anyway

hmm...would my lexus dealer install this torque convertor? should i even trust them to do it? i was gonna have this done by a transmission place. hmm...or maybe i should just do the tranny flush part after the tc install.

Im pretty sure that Lexus can install it but I wouldnt recommend it since they charge an arm and a leg for everything.

The tranny flush comes with the 60k service. If you opted not to have it I doubt that it would have any affect on the price (not sure so dont quote me on this). But in any case that it does just tell them you dont want it save the money and do the tranny flush at the shop that is doing the TC install since they need to do that anyway. Hope this helps.

hey thanks! or, i guess i could just postpone the desperately needed 60k service for after they put the tc in. i might go that route. cuz the shop im goin to has not worked on a lexus gs400 before. but from what i hear, this is a rather simple tc install. i hope! i have srt's number and i hope that maybe even though i didnt buy it from them, they might help.
