Anyway, I had it checked and the code was from the shift solonoid - so I'm guessing it does in fact have something to do with the TC. Anyway, the parts store guy cleared the cel - i'll let you guys know if/when it comes back on - hopefully it won't.

Hey - if it comes on once every 500 miles - no big deal - I'll just go the parts store once a month and get it cleared in 2 minutes for free. Maybe I aught to buy one of those little diagnostic handhelds myself so I can see the code myself and clear it if it's just the shift solinoid.
