Default Differential oil (fluid) - which one?

I asked this in a past thread and I don't recall getting the answer, so now that I know I figured I would post this for future searchers:

The manual specifies 80-90 or just 90 weight fluid. The Toyota paperwork that came with the new LSD I bought specifies SYNTHETIC 75-90W fluid.

I used Mobil 1 synthetic 75-90 fluid, sold at Autozone in my part of the country.

Hope this helps.

Nick,

Specifically which LSD did you buy? Can't recall if you got the TRD LSD or the Supra 3.76 LSD?

I have a supra LSD I use Royal Purple. If the LSD is Brand new change the fluid after like 1000 or so miles . Break in period... mine was dirty so changed it and then changed 1000 later second time it was spotless.

Did you put the LSD additive in your dif?

You don't use the LSD additive (also called a friction modifier) in the Supra (Torsen style) LSD; you only need to add it for clutch type LSDs like the TRD.

Royal Purple work in all the types of rears. No need for additives.
