Engine Dying - What they did for me

After reading about other GS's engine dying, I wanted to let you know what they did for me. My GS has died 4-5 times in while at red lights. Always took it to a dealer. They changed:
Reset ECU
Changed ECU
Changed Throttle Sensor
Changed ECU again
Changed Throttle Sensor again
Then something different happen while going 65mph on the freeway. The engine was reving at 1800 rpm, and no throttle response. All the lights turned on. By the grace of God, nobody hit me and I got off to the shoulder. Turned off the car and restart and pulled to a gas station. When I put the car into D the car would jump as it I was at 3K rpm. Drove it to a dealer and then the same thing happen 1 exit away from the dealer. Called service and they picked me up off the freeway. They replaced the entire THROTTLE ASSEMBLY. Drove the car 4K miles since, low rpm at many tines, but no stalls. I am just waiting for it to happen again. I have the attention of the regional office. Just waiting for it to happen again.
Hope this helps.

Ben, if Lexus doesn't take REAL good care of you, after almost killing you, I'd tell them you're going to talk to any local consumer activists and write to all the newspapers and call the TV stations. That ought to get their attention. TV loves those stories about any conceivable risk.

By the way you described your problem (car did not respond at all when you pressed the gas) = problem lied in the Throttle Position Sensor. Hope they replaced that part. Usually when this occurs, the yellow "check engine light and the trac light" will go on for a few minutes. If they replaced that part, I bet your car will be fine from now on. Relax, it was just a small faulty sensor, a slight glitch. I would not worry about my car and consider it a "Lemon" if it happened to me.

I had the exact same problem. Dealer changed the Throttle Position Sensor and that apparently has solved the problem. They basically read the engine management memory and found that fault codes indicated that faulty item.
