If thats the case then I am truly sorry. Its not a real big deal.Your not in search of a HIGH horsepower race car.You are more after the sound you are going to get.A crush bent 2 1/2 will be close to 2 1/4 in the bends anyway, so no its not too big of a deal.

Your going to LOVE the sound though.

I won't be returning them as they charged me over $30.00 for shipping and then I had to pay another $30.00 for taxes, custom duties and UPS brokerage fees.

I guess I will be doing this mod with 2.25 inch pipes instead. Oh well. Based on the little I know, I don't think this will be an issue as the current pipes are smaller than 2.25 inches anyway. I believe they are 2 inches.

Interesting comment from Dx3 about the mufflers getting louder over time. My L-tuned mufflers didn't get any louder at all over time.
2.25" pipe is PLENTY. You want to use the SMALLEST pipe that supports your power goals. Larger pipe will reduce low rpm output.

Now, from a sound standpoint, 2.50 duals will probably sound slightly different than 2.25 duals.

Also, the inside diameter of the catalyst outlet is 50mm or 1.97"

Remember my "slow" LS400 ran 14.2 at 99mph through a single 55mm (2.16") center resonator.

The GS400 has a 60mm (2.37") single center resonator.

FWIW, I advise and will build on my car 2.25 duals.

Thanks for clarifying that John!

John B, if you get back in here, I'm curious about your thoughts on that 2.25 true dual all the way back.
Not that I think it is "too large" or anything, but, with ONLY a 4.0 liter engine, it just seems so damn small that we could get away with 2" or 2 1/8" true dual's and still be ok.

4.0 liters is just sooo tiny!

On MY car, the opening in the flange when cut off right at the flange was 2 1/2 inch. I know, I measured.
If your not going to go to larger pipe then just put mufflers on it to get a more agressive sound.
I have some pretty big plans for this car so there is no way in h e ll I would put anything smaller than 2 1/2 on it.
My last 4.6 powered vehicle required dual 3 inch.Everyone all over the country was having trouble fitting dual 2 1/2 and we fit dual 3 inch.

This car if it remains dual might need to be upgraded to dual 3 inch.If it goes single it will be 4 inch mandrel bent all the way out.
Can anyone guess my plans?

Sorry the pic sucks.
I had to shrink it WAY down for the site to accept it.And my camera is only a 2.2 meg. Oh well.
I'm going to take the little cross brace off and either paint it black or take it off all together.

Got another pic taken closer to the front of the car so that the Y-pipe joining to the X-pipes is more visible? The pic you posted does not really show the X-pipes ...............

You probably left the JPEG compression too low - if you increase the compression you should be able to post 800x600 pictures easy enough.
