Default Is NOS right for me?

Guys,

Was speaking to my mechanic today who is a certified master Lexus mechanic. I was asking him about performance mods and he said just to go with NOS. He said the 1UZ is completely capable of taking a 100 shot on a stock motor.

He said to do it right the intake manifold would need to be hit at each of the 8 runners. He said he would install it for me for $1000-$1500 done properly. This seems like a pretty high install cost considering I have heard lots of people getting it done for $300 or so.

I have spent the last hour reading all the previous posts on it and am still undecided.

It is looking like the headers will cost about $1800 for them including install. That is pretty steep for what could be less than a 10hp increase. Decisions, decisions!!

I only usually drive the Lex on weekends so it wouldn't be used often.

I know most people are against NOS but if installed properly it should be fine.

What do you think?

Jonny

PS> I know NOS is a brand, just easier than typing nitrous everytime.

I'm no NOS expert, there's tons on here, but $1000-$1500 installed doesn't sound bad to me given the complexity of drilling multiple holes in the right place in the manifold, installing everything, etc.

There's a pic on here somewhere of that exact type of setup.

I guess you really don't think your car is fast enough, huh?

one thing with nitrous is you'd probably do better with stock gearing than the 3.76. maybe not that big a deal.

the most important things with nitrous are having enough fuel to go with the nitrous and not having too much timing.

for $1500 it should be a pretty sophisticated setup.

the longer gears have more time to build power. less time shifting and more time pulling

Great company and products, not sure if they have a system that would work with our cars or not....

Nitrous Express offer the wet kit. It run around $500. The installation wouldn't run $1500 lol.... Your lexus guy work on Lexus everyday but It doesn't mean he know how to install the nitrous kit. Wet nitrous install will run around $500. Good luck.

Thx for the help man - I really appreciate it. You are in Houston right>? Wish you were a little closer to Tulsa so I could get you to install it for me.

Peace man,

We are located in the Dallas area. We install many nitrous kit on the supra. Here are a couple of pictures that we installed last week.

A blown down tube, pressure gauge and bottle heater is rec in addition to the kit.
