Default IMPORTANT SRT Question!!!! (does it pass smog)

Hey guys,
Is it true that After I install the SRT intake and the piggyback ecu I cannot pass smog? EVEN after I disconnect the ECU I still cannot pass SMOG? I would like to know so I can finally determine what intake to purchase!! Thanks guys

Yes, you will not be able to pass the visual portion of the smog. Most people will reinstall the stock airbox and smog.

So if I reinstall the stock airbox, and disconnect the piggyback ECU, I WILL BE ABLE to PASS smog? Thanks

In Boston we just find a guy we know at the inspection place (usually your local gas station) and they will have you drive it in the bay, then not even touch your car, and then give you your sticker, you give them $35 and you're out.

Yes, at that point your car will be back to stock. Just make sure you jump the ground wire as that is the only one cut when you install the SRT ecu, all the other wires are taps. Also make sure you reset the ECU in the car by disconnecting the batt for about 15-20 mins and drive around for a tank or so before you get smog test done.

The Injen site does NOT show a CARB exempt application for the '98-'00 GS400. However, the info on their site is very outdated, so I would give them a call to check availability...

It's probably easier to smuggle cocaine than drive a modified import in California
