Finally got off my backside and did the timing belt. I had shop manual instructions from Toyota and it did NOT mention the PS pump or Alternator that I ended up removing (actually just loosened and moved).
Honestly once I had a cover off and could see the belt I was tempted to leave it on. It is in GREAT shape! I was worried that I had waited so long (97k) to do this service but it was never a problem. This said, I am NOT suggesting that others wait past 90k. It just is nice to see that there is some wiggle room in the recommended service intervals. Of course the replacement parts I always use are genuine Lexus in this case Carson Toyota sourced.

Actually, the problem with being able to "do" is that one always ends up "doing".

I also had the timming belt done at about 95k miles. I was very surprised to see what great condition it was in.
Feel better knowing that it is new now and will not need replacement for a long time.

My GS4 has 107k miles on it and I'm considering getting the belt changed too. The only thing that is stopping me is that my dad changed his belt from an 85 cressida (5MGE) and it had those same little cracks on the belt. My dad clamped the belt on a vise and twsited the belt with a screwdriver and it DIDN'T BREAK!!! His arm cramped up.
Does Lexus officially say when to change the timing belt?

The belt on lexus V8 is very very strong. My mechanic friend who worked on huge numbers of lexus actually told me the belt will last a lot more than 100K. and even if the timing belt broke while driving, there will be no damage due to it( on applies on #UZ-FE, I don;t want to mislead people here) He said the timing belt can be look all cracked up and not going to give up.
Ohh Well , I am going to do it at 100K instead of 90K, if I can keep my car for that long.

I just did serpentine belt, timing belt, water pump, front seals, all fluids throughout the car, TM spark plugs, filters, etc. I won't have to worry about maintenance for a long time now. Only cost me a little over $800.
BTW I have 120k on the car and the mechanic said everything still looked pretty good.
