Default Blitz NUR-Spec & TOM`s 6-piece -clearance (w/ pics)

The Blitz NUR-Spec axel-back exhaust does not clear one of the TOM`s 6-piece links on the 2001 GS430. The pipe diameter is too large, and the link bolt cap is about 1.5" taller than the bolt. It will fit on, but it is constantly rubbing and will grind when accelerating.

I'll have a picture up tomorrow.

(edit) - Someone else already mentioned this problem previously with a different exhaust manufacturer so this is definetly a known issue.

The Tanabe HM also had clearance issues with the 6-link. I switched to the Tom's exhaust. The Carson Tuned also clears without any problem.

Does anyone know if the Apexi WS2 clear? That's the exhaust I'm interested in.

I believe the problem with these systems is that they are designed for the Aristo turbo. That's probably why these come with 3" piping, which according to JBrady's teachings, is WAY to big for the stock GS430 motor.

TOM`s barrel, here I come.

no, one of the link will hit the exhaust pipe unless you shave it

ok i don't have pics of the "problem" with the 6 links together with the WS exhaust, but it's on one of the bent, where one of the link end is too "big" and it will hit and raffle against the exhaust when moving. same with the other exhaust, usually it's one of the bent hitting part of the links

i am blaming the piping on the exhaust being so "thick"

right, which is why TOM`s (should fit for sure) or Carson tuned (let's hope it fits good!) should be a better option for the 6-piece guys.

Yup Rominl, right where the bend is in the piping. (tired and lazy to get up and take a pic.. )

well caron tuned is a copy of the toms so of course it will clear

and trust me man, there is a reason why 6 links are still missing from my suspension check list... if i get it more than likely i will have to shave part of a link to clear, coz' i am not giving up my apexi...

You can install 4 of the 6 pieces, the link closest to the rear of the car is the problem. You could purchase it and install the 4, or shave the last piece down.

Barely clears the pipe, but still rubs.

yep...i had the same problem. we had to make mods to the pipe to make the six piece suspension rods fit. when they re did the exhaust piping they just dropped it down about 1/4 to 1/2" to make it fit.

haha ryan, a good easy way is to get a hammer and dent the exhaust
