The Ridge that you pointed out in that diagram is what now fits just inside the flange.
I used my old convertor gaskets because I had read from someone else that this was going to be possible. Since it is a copper gasket, it *looked* ok and I went ahead and used them. The gasket at each end looked identical, although I didn't measure them.
If they are only a few bucks each, I would have bought 4 of them for this project. I just wasn't thinking that far ahead. I did buy new manifold to head gaskets though.
On the convertor and also on the original manifold, there is a slight indented ring on the flange that the gasket seals against. The header doesn't have this but I don't think it's a big deal since the convertor does have it, and we've got that ridge to go up in the header collector pipe.
