Wink Give me a Day or So

RA - Yes, the 239 HP figure is totally stock. The reason for the different figures would be hard to narrow down to one factor. The air temperature/humidity factor's there, as well as fuel quality; state of engine tuning; etc. Probably the biggest factor is Lexus itself. Unless U're running a NASCAR IROC engine that's been built & dyno'ed to yield the same power, then assembly & tolerances play a huge factor. As an example, my friend had an '86 Corvette that made 235 HP ( according to Chevy ) while my '87 'Vette ( when stock ) was advertised to make 245 HP. However, I couldn't beat him nor could he beat me when I drove his versus mine ( to take out the driver ability factor ). Either mine was weaker than normal or his was stronger - both totally stock. That's when I called Lingenfelter!!!! Let me dig up the dyno sheets that I can find or call my friend & I'll post what I have - may not be able to scan them in so if not, ya'll have to trust me on the numbers.

Mean Gene,

23 rwhp difference is a lot in my opinion though there are indeed some factors could affect the result.

well you have to understand that HP doesn't = better performance. Just look at the 540I sport manual as a good example. The 540 gives out more HP will when racing the GS4. The GS will take it why is cause of the motor>tanny>chip. The GS was design design very well and again thats why if you add an exhaust. Your not going to get anything or very little.
I believe that the GS is a great car to work on for more performance.

Thumbs up Different Dynos, always produces different results!

Different Dynos will always produce different results. That's why it important to dyno your car at the same dyno. I just got my '98 GS400 dyno'd, baseline 230. With the swift Air Filter/ECU, 241. I'm not pleased at all. I think the best way to go is to get the Apex S-AFC and do a dyno and tune with A/F meter. This way you can get the most out of your car. That's pretty much what the ECU is doing, it's changing your Air/Feul Ratio. You can't change it with Swifts ECU, you can with Apex S-AFC. I got over 30 RWHP on my '97 Supra after tuning the car with a S-AFC. My opinion go with the Apex S-AFC, $300 + dyno and tuning $250, still less than the Swift Air Filter/ECU.

Hopefully soon I will do some dyno on my car. Everyone has a large difference in dyno under stock (assuming 16"). It doesn't seem right.
