Interesting thread, am glad to see that oil is starting to be seen for more than just not breaking down as fast.
I use an additive that doesn't come in a brightly colored bottle, isn't sold on late nite TV, or anywhere really, comes in gallons, and does reduce friction by way of modifiers, no teflon BS.
Whenever I doubt it's validity, I do an oil change without it, then put it in later to check out the difference.
I have been using a 40 weight oil over a 30 weight after noticing a boost in (low end)power, likely from better piston ring sealing, but the 20 weight didn't work so well, so the less viscosity=more power theory doesn't work with low ring tension like we have in our higher mileage engines.
