Default Royal Purple 9 horses?

Anyone running Royal Purple in the diff besides me? Any before and after dyno numbers? I came across these videos showing 9 horsepower increases using Royal Purple http://www.royalpurple.com/video/video.html

It runs cooler, cuts down parasitic losses in the drivetrain, so many benefits. It does have an additive called Superslyn (spelling) that is supposed to enhance the lubricity. Less friction=more horsepower.

Those shops don't carry Royal Purple. You have to order it online, or purchase it at a speed Shop. I got mine at a speed shop in Long Island New York. Jegs carries it.

I used it before. I personally think its good oil, just kinda got annoying to have to go to special places to get it.

this may not be quite what you were looking for, but, I did use that oil in my ZX-12R which I happen to drag race a lot. I think it's good oil.

As far as getting 9 hp though, well, it's hard to say, but certainly you'd get more than when using thick old standard 90w or whatever is in our differentials.

I wouldn't expect it to be any more than any other synthetic though. (haven't seen any tests against Amsoil, Mobil, Redline, etc)

It is better for guys with lsd as the Royal Purple has a special additive already incorporated. the other brands require you to purchase a special additive for LSD's

You're right Shocker, that would make it *easier* for the average guy to buy and install.

personally, I don't mind buying a separate additive if it means that my base oil that I'm putting in the differential is better. (I have my LSD here in the garage, to be installed after drag testing the headers I recently put on)

From what I understand, the supra tt lsd does not require additives where as the TRD unit does.

Anyone know if using an additive on the supra unit will have any adverse effects

this post is kinda wierd - i was thinking about posting something lastnight on the same subject but not the Royal Purple product something else- i saw it on sports car revolution lastnight on the speed channel- the did a dyno before and after and it was a 9 hp gain- from cutting down on friction they said- ?- im afraid to use stuff like that- ""ect. sea foam""" but im not sure if a reputable tv show says it works it must right?????????????

IMO definitely should not use a differential oil with friction modifier in a torsen-type LSD like the Supra OEM.

There are plenty of aftermarket differential fluids that have the friction modifier built in (I use Redline which does), not only Royal Purple does.

On the 9hp claim, I'd guess that changing the oils with any decent synthetic is going to improve performance somewhat. I'd like to have seen them do it with fresh synthetic fluids (some other brand) as the 'before'.
