Default muffler bolts

Are the bolts at the end of the muffler section welded on either side?

I thought I remember reading that in a past post about switching out the muffler section. I tried spraying liquid wrench and an impact gun and ended up having to drill the old bolts off one side. I ran out of time before doing the other side, and was trying to save some time.

The nuts are welded on. The bolt are what you need to take off. The welded nut is on the muffler side of the tubing i believe.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I called the local Lex dealer and was told that neither side was welded on, but a NorthEast owned 2001 has seen at least 4 winters and they might as well be. I ended up drilling through the bolt head to get them off.

Thanks

Yes...as jefftsai replied...only the nut is welded on the stock muffler rear system.

When i installed my Blitz...i downsized the nuts/bolts so I have more play room manuevering/ angling/positioning the new exhaust in the bumper cutouts. Just a heads up tip.
