Default OH NO! I need advice

I just read in another thread to use Toyota T-IV tranny fluid when changing the fluid. But when I bought my GS400 two weeks ago I got an oil and transmission fluid change at a local shop. I did not check to see what type of transmission fluid he used. Am I in trouble? Should I go and get the Toyota fluid put back in it?

You really should. If you don't have the $$$$ to, there are a number of friction modifiers (additives) that will bring your standard tranny fluid up to spec IF YOU MUST. Otherwise, put the Toyota stuff in....

Is it necessary to get a flush when I put the Toyota fluid back in, or can I just drain and refill? Thanks for the help.

A. Go ask the shop what brand of tranny fluid and what type they use on the Toyota/Lexus. Ya gotta ask man.

B. Unfortunately, you'd need some kind of flushing. Just doing the pan wouldn't get the fluid that is in the torque converter so the first time you fired it back up and drove off, you'd be mixing the few quarts of T-IV with the old stuff.
