Just had this done - tbelt, waterpump, tbelt tensioner, cooling fluid and refill.
Cost was $969 in Austin, Texas at the toyota dealer. Car is 98 GS400 with 116000 miles. I saved the tbelt. It has some small hairline cracks in it but looked like it had 30-40k miles left in it.

Pohanka Lexus is the worst dealership I've ever been to, not just Lexus dealers. Ourisman Toyota even has better service. I used to go to Pohanka since I live very close by, but now I go to Lindsay for bigger stuff and Toyota for oil change.
For a comparison:
I just called Pohanka the other day for radiator flush and transmission drain/fill, and was quoted $120 and $150. With Lindsay $75 and $90.

most toyota dealers rarely see the GS400/430s. I wouldn't trust them to do a job as big as a timing belt on my car. I've also heard horror stories on here about GS4 t-belt jobs gone bad from toyota dealers

Brad has hooked me up too. I am about due my 60k and I may need a timing belt changed but I think I will wait on it.
Brad sold his GS400 and I think is looking for a nice supra. He has hung out with us and the NELOC crew on a few occasions. Cool guy. Good Luck

![Question](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I don't have a GS, but I do have an RX330 - it's a 2004, and I just took it in to Pohanka Lexus for a normal servicing @ 50K miles (tires, oil). While it was in, they called me to tell me they were replacing my PCV valve and that my throttle needed cleaning - carbon build up in both. I have trouble believing this - and said as much - only to have the service advisor get irate with me insisting it had to be done. Now, he wasn't asking my permission - they'd already started on it. And, when I took it in @ 47K, they didn't seem to see the problem then. Both repairs cost me about $400 - which is astronomically hight -and I feel they probably weren't necessary to start with. Has anyone else run into the PCV valve & throttle situation?

By itself TB cleaning and a PCV at $400 sounds absurdly high. Unless they had to pull the intake off the engine to reach something I cannot understand how they could justify the cost.
That said if ANY service advisor treated me in any way except respectfully I would be talking to Lexus corporate within the hour. To have work begun without authorization is seriously unacceptable. BBB, Lexus corp, local news consumer watchdog reporter, this forum and more would be contacted and highlighted. When any business screws the customer intentionally it hurts the entire product line. Similar to insurance fraud increases everyones rates.

I had an extremely bad experience with Richmond Lexus. Does anyone know how I can get in contact with the District Manager in the Virginia area? I dropped off my car on Tuesday for a timing belt/water pump job...I got my car back and the coolant used is GREEN instead of red. Service advisor is giving me the run around...help!

Any moron can install a timing belt. All of the instructions are in ALL-DATA which every shop has.
They only thing I do at any dealer is buy the car.
Take the car to local shop. Curry or chandler and Sons in NoVa...
The car is a toyota with an "L" on the front not a Saleen S7 for christs sake.

The timing belt is easy to install just time consuming. I do all my own work on my gs300 and I have not had a problem yet. Just make sure you have the right tools. I am in the vinicity of all you guys but that is adleast a 3 hour job plus you need the warm facilities since it is getting cold.
