Sticky Accelerator Pedal

Hi guys,
I have a 94 GS300 with 81,000 miles and it is absolutely perfect except for one thing. When the engine is full warmed up, and I am sitting at a stoplight, the accelerator pedal likes to get stuck and I have to punch it pretty hard to get it unstuck. Unfortunately, every time I do that, the car rockets off the line. I would like to get this fixed before winter comes. I have tried to lubricate the throttle cable and spring mechanism but it doesn't seem to help. It is strange because it only happens about 50% of the time, the rest of the time it is the pedal is normal. It seems like the longer I sit at the light, the more chance there is that the pedal is going to get stuck. Anybody else have this problem?

i'm just logicaly thinking through what it could be... maybe the throttle body plate has warped or grown in some way? and when its hot the metal expands and starts to stick to the throttle body. That would explain why it happens when you're idling only, why it only happens when hot, and why you have to hit it hard to unstick it...

Sasha,
You could be right. Or it could be a number of other things sticking in the fuel system.
94GS300, how about trying the easy way out? Get some fuel system detergent additive from the auto parts store and put it in a full tank of gas and run it until just about empty. See if running it through the system solves the problem.
If one tank doesn't help, try one more. Sometimes it solves the problem and you never know exactly what problem you solved, but what the hell if it's fixed it doesn't really matter.
If this doesn't do it I'll have to turn you over to those of my brethren here who may have a more specific solution to your problem.

With that kind of mileage, have you ever cleaned your thottle plate on your thottle body? Carbon builds up on the thottle plate and throat of the the thottle body. A little carb/fuel injector spray cleaner works wonders. You don't even have to remove the thottle body, just be careful so you don't blow to much of the built up carbon back into the intake manifold. I haven't had to clean my GS300's yet but I will as normal maintenance @ 30K miles. Just my 2 cents worth. ad
