Hey,

I am new here and I had a question to ask. I recently purchased a gs300 without a motor. I wanted to know if I can swap a is300 motor into the gs300. It is the same motor and the only notible difference seems to be the intake manifold. Would I still be able to hook up the wires with the differences? I came upon a cheap is300 motor so the question arised. Thanks in advance for the help

What year is the GS you have? Either way, all 2G GS and 1G IS share the same engine, 2JZ-GE VVT-i. The engine will drop in no problem, but the electronics and wiring will be a bit different for the two cars.

Isnt the IS300 motor pretty much the same as ours except ours has slightly beefed up internals due to our weight.

What are you gonna be paying for an is300 motor ? Might aswll just drop in a GTE and have more fun and is much easier to install..

Welcome to the club. Do a search and you'll see many threads about a 2JZ-GTE engine and the GS300. If you didn't already know, that's the same engine found in the later Supra TT...so you already know it's reliable and has boost potential.

Thanks for the reply. Although a 2jz-gte would be a great swap I am just planning on going simple on the gs. I have a supra already with the motor which is the reason I even considered the gs300 in the first place. The is300 motor I came across is actually off a friend's vehicle so hes practically giving it away to me. Im just wondering if the wirings would be very difficult to do.

Im doin the same thing i have a 98 gs300 i am putting in a 03 is300 engine in my car cause engine crank shaft is bent. The motor is the same the only thing you need to do is swap the manifolds over. I called taprecycling here in california they said its the same motor 98-04 lexus gs 01-04 lexus is300. They both hold the same motor.
