Default SRT Intake and Borla Mufflers

I have a 2000 Lexus GS300, I just bought an SRT Intake and Borla Mufflers, and it gives a really ricey sound around 2000k rpm. Is there any exhaust or intake that won't give that type of sound, I want a nice clean sound that does not sound like any ricer out there.

Well this just came to me but i may be wrong... With the V6 it may be harder to get a deeper sound because i think the engine is a little higher pitched compared to the V8 with the deeper tone.. I mean the same exhaust on a 300 and 400 will be completely different IMO..

i got a v8 and borla with SRT intake... i think its sounds just fine. a little more bass... sounds like 1/3 of a mustang and i like it. the low hum goes away at like 2.5 rpm. so on the highway it sounds just fine.

i derno of any other exhausts that sound lighter?

you can try searching for "GS exhaust competition" in google. i remember seeing a video of like 10 GS's with different intakes and exhausts haha, so look for the crappiest sounding one and try those? i derno

gluck

I too have the Borlas but I have the V8 and for my taste it's good. Does not sound ricey at all. I've had an intake on with the Borlas too and no rice here! You should here my friend's BMW 325 with some POS muffler. Screams lawn mower with no oil. Very embarassing.

I had the Borla for awhile and then stepped it up to to the Blitz because i wanted a little more a a deeper tone.. IMO its perfect.. The cabin is still nice a quiet... I don't have a intake, just a K/N drop in.. SRT intake may be the best all around intake for sound and performace.. not many intakes offer a nice sound with HP gains to back it up...

When I was running just my Borla exhaust with the standard K&N drop in filter, the sound was very mellow. Once I put the SRT intake on, the whole car just opened up. The exhaust sounds much meaner now but only at WOT. I can drive very easily and the car sounds almost stock. I would think the best way to quite up your car would be to remove the SRT. I know that is extreme but the SRT is what is making your system sound louder. Your exhaust is just now getting all the air it was designed to handle and it is now coming through with the sound you are hearing.

Borla mufflers have a higher pitched sound to it. Not as deep as other mufflers out there.

Same with the L-tuned I find.

I dont like when an exhaust whistles durring the air reversion/de-cel. Sounds too chevy to me. I prefer japaneese brands, although magnaflows sounds pretty deep.
