Qs about anyone who is SC or Turbo...
#1
Hell I am a new member and am looking to buy an IS300 within the next year...
I am curious about the engine in the IS300 (I would get a 5 spd)... Is it really an N/A Supra motor? If one were to SC or turbo it, would any engine internals need to be upgraded to handle the forced induction?
Also, does anyone know what kind of 1/4 times and dyno numbers are possible with turbo or SC... And what boost levels are these 1/4 times and dyno numbers using?
Thanks for any answers in advance. I do not want to buy a civic (I seriousle would not), but would love to stay in the import tuning world. I know to see an IS300 on a DRAG STRIP may seem odd (others have mentioned that(better to see one AUTO-X)), but I am a sedan LOVER (who enjoys 1/4 racing) and LOVE the looks and performance of the IS300; I feel it just needs more power...

yes, the is300 does carry the same motor as the NA supra. and no you will most likely not need to upgrade your internals to turbo or supercharge, the stock 2j bottom end is pretty strong. 1/4 wise, it is relaly hard to say, just depends on how much power you want, what type of suspension setup you have and what type of rubber you're going to be using keep in mind that anythign is possible though.

depends on how much you wanna spend....2jz motor will handle upto 60 rwhp with stock internals and a head gasket for lower compression......this months turbo magazine has toyomotos 606rwhp is300...check it out...Jeff
