Magnaflow Exhaust
OK, I am tired of waiting.
I am going to talk with my exhaust guy soon about Magnaflows 14829. 5" X 8" X 14" Oval
http://www.cardomain.com/item/MGF14829
I am still wondering about that massive resonator.
I do not want the "Borla Drone" but I do want some more sound and lower tone.
This "Single" or "Double" wall tip is also confusing.
Any suggestions before I go to the shop?

the extra wall is a resonator tip on the exhaust. i like them if you can't tell they are there (like the stock is exhaust). it sounds like you are more concerned with the sound of the exhaust then how much performance you can get out of one...so you can talk to your muffler guy about that and he should know.
btw the 'drone' w/ borla isn't really a drone. at idle you can hear it but thats supposed to be there. the drone is when you hit the peddle and all you hear is the exhaust and no engine through the exhaust.

Howdy Quiksilver! How you been? Hadn't seen you post up here in a while.
Hows the IS350 doin?
Let me know about those Magnaflows. I'm thinking about putting them on the Dodge Ram. Don't want that 'drone' either.
I have read, on another message board, that you want to keep away from a exhaust pipe length that is 66, or 67 inches. That length has something to do with resonance? I'll try to find that article. i can't remember exactly. You may want to measure the pipes on the IS350. Good luck and let us know how the mod goes.

I have been around. Just reading.
So whats up with this 66-67 inch exhaust length?
N1 know what the stock system length is?
I do not plan to shorten it. I just want some tone..................

Well my exhaust guy talked me out of the Magnaflows. We went with generic Flowmasters and double wall stainless 4 inch tips. The mufflers are 12" x 8" x 4". The stock is 14" x 10" x 5". Left all the resonator stuff in place. Picked up a little bit of sound but not much and I have ever so slight amount of resonance. The wife did not notice it at all.
I guess we will never get the throaty sound of the big blocks but I think it will flow better.

Here is the sit guys, with this car, any sound clips are going to be so suttle that you will not get a true feel for what is going on. If you plan to keep the cats you are restricted on just what flow and sound is possible. If you loose the resonator you will enter into the world of cabin resonance. I choose to keep the cats and the res but even with such a diff in the size and restriction of the muffler the available sound if minimal. I am pleased with the look. I no longer have those huge cans hanging under the bumper and the double wall tips look good. I can hear the car running now but it will never have the sound of the Mustangs or the Vettes. Overall, I think my $200 is close to the sound I could have gotten out of the $1200 options. At least it will keep me at bay until someone comes out with a really good system for reasonable bucks.

Qiksilvr - Who did your work?
I'm not to far out of Raleigh and been looking at exhaust options myself. I would like a little better sound and I think the stock tips look cheap. Your work looks good.
