Default Okay... Raise your hands if you have the TRD LSD

The TRD LSD has proven elusive to me. I tried to order one about 1 1/2 years ago from Carson, where it was on the slow boat from Japan- 16 weeks I think. I placed my name and CC number down for an order, but never received a phone call.

So it essentially got away from me.

Lanching from 15mph to prevent tire spin isn't fun, where I am envious of everyone who has the TRUE 2-Way (1.5) LSD. Not the Torsen TT 3.76, or Kaaz. (known to cause rev-tapping with the PI Torque Converter and stock 3.2X gears )

So who here has a real TRD LSD and where in the ##@% did you get it from? did you wait?

I wonder how many CL members have done the conversion?....

EDIT: Please do not turn this into a "what is", "why", "how" thread on LSD's. There are too many already. Tks.

I have one, got it from Carson. Have had it since they offered it on a GB here on CL in 2002 when they are more readily available.

The TRD LSD does not replace the ring gear in your differential, it uses the existing set just a heads up. I think the gearing is 3.23 or 3.26

you can get it without gears and use your stock ones or you can order it with the taller 3.73 gearing.

Although the TRD is a great LSD, several of the posters above have Forced Induction, for which the 3.2x gearing is a great set up.

If you are not going FI, then the 3.7x gearing will do you better overall in acceleration, both on the bottom end and the top end. Whatever characteristics you like of the TRD vs the Supra LSD, the gearing negates any performance advantages you see in the TRD..

Now get the TRD with the 3.7x gearing and I'd say go for it.

I've posted results of this testing in the past. Just do a search.
