Default TRD LSD Question for QBranch!

QBRANCH,

I think you mentioned that you have the TRD LSD. Two weeks ago I had the dealer install the TRD LSD. Having driven around for the last couple of weeks I noticed that when stopped and then I accelerate to make a turn there is this slipping/grabbing sensation felt in the rear. I do not think they are the tires slipping. I understand the TRD LSD is a clutch type and could this slip sensation actually be the LSD engaging? Is this normal?

Thanks,

YES. That's exact the feeling you got from the LSD engaging. If you have TC installed, you'll get that sensation even more.

The other thing you should be awared of is your rear tires may running low. When threr's less tire grip, you feel that more often.

Hope this answers your question.

Qbranch, soory to answer your question for you

JacobT,

I have new tacky tires on the car and I don't think they are slipping. It's something slipping from the time I hit the gas and the tires actually bite and start moving. I thought the slipping sensation might be the LSD engaging, but I wanted to check with others to make sure it wasn't an LSD problem.

Thanks,

Anh,

I got the LSD installed about 1 1/2 years ago at Colvin's. They charged 6 hour of labor for the job.

I like the TRD clutch type better than the RMM torsen type.

JacobT,

Just curious, why did you like the Clutch type better than the torsen?

Torsen type is partially locked depending on torque distribution while tires spinning. The clutch type is either fully locked or unlocked. The clutch type stop the tire spin immediately while the Torsen type gradually slow down the wheel spin. For my aggresive driving style, I prefer clutch type than Torsen type.

My friend has a 700HP SupraT with Torsen LSD, he wants the TRD LSD too. He told me he even got wheel spins at 3rd gear while racing

I guess Jacob said it all. That's how mine works also. When you get that slip feeling, take a look if your VSC (light) comes on. You will find it doesn't come on as often as before the upgrade, so it's working.
