As long as you spray the cleaner in gently, you'll be fine. it'll only damage the MAF if you spray the cleaner full blast into the 2 thin wire.

Took the long way to work this morning and I definitely feel the improved response. Good use of $3 and 20 minutes.

It was not as caked on but definitely dirty. It's pretty easy to check. I'd take a look and if it's ugly, pretty it up.
The idle is a bit higher / smoother now. I was getting some roughness w/o AC on.

Being a Lexus tech for several years I have seen some bad TB's. Most are the ones with 87 fuel and low miles (grandma drove). The MAF sensor is in the duct to the TB no the TB itself. I have not had a ny trouble yet spraying dirrectly into the TB, it also helps to clean down into the intake manifold, just have to remoeber the car wiil start rich from it being puddled in there. May have to feather the throttle a lil bit. Then a good run on the road to burn it all out. There are places that clean the intake and cylinders also, we do and engine fog here.

The 300's should clean the TB and intake better when the plugs are changed, since you have it off.

Hey Brian. I noticed you posted up some other pictures about this in a different thread. Is there any chance you might write up a DIY for us non-mechanical types? Or, is it just that easy to get to the TB that no DIY instructions are necessary?

Good idea Eric. Yeah I should probably quick throw together a basic DIY with instructions. I snapped a couple pics last night to help out a guy that was trying to do it. I'm out the door right now but hopefully tomorrow I'll have some time. It's pretty easy but hey if you've never done it then you wouldn't know what to do.

Also, Brian, do you really need to disconnect the battery or is that done just to reset the ECU? I'd rather just pull the ECU-B fuse if that's the case.

You can start putting everything back together right away. Your throttle body isn't really going to be wet inside. I didn't spray cleaner directly into throttle body. Only sprayed it on a rag. Also used a toothbrush to scrub.

I didn't use a toothbrush because it wasn't that dirty. But did you find that it sounded abit louder when u put everything back together and got it running?
