My thoughts and DIY notes are as follows on cleaning the MAF sensor and throttle body (as the GS430 engine is structurally similar to the GS400, these instructions apply):

OVERVIEW
Why: to remove deposits on the MAF sensor, and carbon deposits on the throttle body that rob the car of fuel economy, power, throttle response, and idle smoothness
Cost: $10 in parts [CRC MAF cleaner ($6) and Valvoline Carb, Choke, & Throttle body cleaner ($4)]
Time: 30-45 minutes
Difficulty rating:1.5 of 5 (pretty easy to do)
How often: recommend once every 2 years (or when you replace your air filter)
Result: smoother idle while in gear and parked, better fuel economy, and more immediate, instant throttle response.
Holy cow. Som, where've you been? You still have the GS? I figured you had sold it by now.

Doing great--got really busy with other things in life--you know, work After a haitus, I'm back to CL now that I have some free time. ClubLexus is sort of like crack in some ways--it takes a bit of time away from my other priorities. Nonetheless, great to be back, and I see you've upped your posts to 4x more than what I've got

I still have the GS4, it's been a really great car, although both the M5 and E55 are looking pretty sweet to me--nothing I'd jump on for another few more years though. Nice to hear from you, I'll be seeing you around Eric. If you get a chance, PM me with some worthwhile mods/upgrades you've found out in the past 2 years for the GS (electronics, mechanical, or otherwise)--thanks! My next thing I'm attempting is changing of the OEM steering rack bushings to get truer steering on the roads (the car's almost 9 years old!).

I started to do this mod thinking I was going to do some major cleaning since my car has about 150K on it.... I went I got to the TB... I was kinda surprised/disappointed.. My TB was really clean... It looked nothing like the one in the pictures in the beginning of the post.. I cleaned it anyway and have yet to drive it...
