Default Replacing Air Filter Box

Hi, I have search everywhere and i couldn't find an answer.....

I have a 2001 GS300 and i was wondering if its possible to remove the air box and add just an air filter and leave everything the same and using the stock ecu.

or....

can i get an custom done intake and attach the stock ecu to it...

thanks.

I would think your best bet is to just go with an aftermarket intake. I think most people on here use the SRT. I have the same car as you and I went with the Injen. I would say it added a little more power up top but killed my low-end. As far as sound, I'm pretty sure most intakes sound good, I can definitely vouch for the Injen, makes a really nice swoosh sound above like 3000-3500 rpm.
