$580 + install? No thanks. That's a lot of money for only 4.7 HP. I doubt anyone would be able to detect that increase in power, anyhow. Have to wait and see what the torque increase is (and at what RPM), as this is what people are going to feel.

I knew going in I wasn't buying mine for hp increases. If your buying this exhaust, especially an axel back, for hp then your doing it for the wrong reason. Got mine for the weight savings (big diff there), looks, and more aggressive tone. For $500 it was exactly what I was looking for.

Speaking of which, what is the weight difference? Did you actually weight the stock and compare the two?

Unfortunately I did not. But taking one off and putting the other on you can REALLY tell the diff. Lot less material and bs with the Tanabe system vs the oe also. I still have my oe system in the garage, I can weigh that if someone can weigh the Tanabe.

The weight difference is given one of the earlier Tanabe threads, probably the original. I believe it was something like 20 pounds lighter, but don't quote me.

You gotta consider that the weather has been horrible recently, and not very suitable for a nice dyno. So for all intensive purposes I think it will make even more. To be honest, I dont think you're going to gain any serious power doing I/H/E mods on the 250 short of FI. Modding the IS for serious power is going to be rather expensive if that is one of your goals.

A low end torque gain would seem to be the biggest benefit for off the line acceleration.

Good looks, good sound, a little less weight, quiet and legal make it very attractive for many. Lots of power usually = lots of money = lots of sound... but different strokes for different folks as they say!

Mike has mentioned that the stock axle back is ~40 lbs and the Tanabe is ~20 lbs. That's a decent weight loss.

I'm waiting for someone to put out a single exhaust in steel or Ti that will weigh 6-10 lbs.

IS250 RWD, VDIM OFF

Please note, when we performed the dyno testing on 7-20-2006, this was in the middle of a heatwave, in very adverse conditions!
