Default Timing Belt/Water Pump/Tensioner/Acc.Belt replaced!

Well, at 120,500 miles, I can finally afford to do the Timing Belt replacement along with the ol' water pump, tensioner, and the accessory belt.

yeah, I know, "that belts supposed to be done at 90,000!". what can I say, I didn't have 1000 greenies laying around and pimping myself out on the corner of downtown Dayton wasn't working out for me.

I had concerns about the bill being 1300 at my local dealership, so I went to Cincinnati and got a better deal. In fact, I think it's not too bad of a deal at all. ($50 for the acc belt seems a bit much though)

The damage was:
$892 - Timing belt replacement and labor
$60 - tensioner part replacement
$50 - accessory belt replacement
$15 - supplies
$66 - Tax
-------------
$1082

What do you guys think? Oh yeah, and I like this part, I dropped it off on Tuesday night and picked it up just now....Wednesday night. Great turn-around, and had a free loaner 06 ES300 to boot.

EDIT: Darn, sorry you can't see this. I was hoping the site software would let you 'expand' the pic like I've seen at other sites.

Feel any difference!? Are you serious? TO answer your question, you're not supposed to "feel any difference", replacing your timing belt is supposed to prevent a small thing called SUDDEN AND TOTAL ENGINE DESTRUCTION.

Not to jack your thread, but I just got mine done at a 117K for $620 w/water-pump and a complete check over the intire car. He told me the car is in great shape. my mechanic uses only toyota prats on my car and he is also toyota/lexus certified. Some times is good to look a independent shops for a better price. But you still got a fair pice from the dealer. And the timing belt look like it could take 20-25k miles more.

did they give you back your timing belt? i kept mine to remind myself why it says 7 years in the service schedule... the rubber outside looked good, but when you folded it inside out there were cracks in the toothed part and a long thread had unraveled from the side of the belt and was flapping all over the place. i still can't believe people think they are saving money by not doing it because bent valves aren't cheap

i'm guessing the gs400 has an interference motor. yet another reason the gte swap saves you money, non-interference

Default 90K service

Thanks for the information. My wife and I both have 1999 GS400 and will be at the 90K mark late next year. I was wondering what kind of money I was looking at. I know prices go up but this does give me a ball park amount.

Thanks for posting

Mine had no cracks on the inside. At 90K there is a huge safety margin. But that is what is recomended.
