FINALLY - Supra LSD/3.76 is in
I know, everybody and their mom has already done this swap, but, I figured I'd put in my two cents as well.
Without any instructions or guidelines, start to finish, it took me about 5 hours. I probably wasted a little time in trying to work with the exhaust still bolted up. what can I say, I try to do as little as possible. heheh. In the end, I did not disconnect it at the single point in the middle of the car, but I did unhook the rear mufflers and take it off the rubber hangers just in front of the rear-end. I also finally gave in and took off the metal protective panel above the drive-shaft. Oh, I also broke ALL 4 BOLTS for the rear mufflers. Sweet.
Everything went very straight-forward, but damn, the old pinion did NOT want to separate from the driveshaft!!! I spent a good 30 min. there, and that is with the bolts came out very easily.
DRIVING TEST: Of course I nailed it as soon as I pulled out of my driveway!! Posi works! Neighbors now know I'm done working on the car. hahahaaa.
Off the line I'm only getting a little squeal for about 5-10 feet still. I guess these Pirelli's just stick. Prior to installation, sometimes they might not even squeal at all.
Passing people on freeway is more smooth with this gearing and also being at the slightly higher RPM helps of course. It just seems 'more effortless' now.
The 1st-2nd shift is *absolutely* shifting right at redline now where as before it was ALWAYS 300rpm short. All full throttle shifting seems to be just slightly quicker and very slightly firmer too. Maybe it's just me.
Punching it at any speed is noticeably better. Still not a beast nor like a a 350-400hp LS1 Camaro/TransAm/Vette, but, it's very good for the luxury ride that it is at 3600lbs+.
With any luck, I can take it to the track on Thursday if the crazy weather holds out and stays decent.
PS. Not that he is here, but, Kudo's to BananaGS for having the torque specs on his website. (well, all except the driveshaft specs) I went ahead and paypal'd him some money. Great reference site.

Congrats on your new LSD. I felt that once I put mine in that the car felt like it should have from the factory. The pull around corners is my favorite thing about the LSD. Oh, and congrats on doing the install yourself. I assume you had access to a lift.

it's the same method I used for the headers and Daizen bushings/tie-rods/ball-joints.
me and the car are becoming very close

For some additional security to make sure the car won't slide foward (without having to use the plastic blocks), I get a 2x4 wood plank and wedge it between the brake pedal and drivers seat. The SupraTT brakes keep the front wheels planted

I bought a used center section (the differential) from someone at this site for $900. I probably overpaid a bit, but, they were getting a bit hard to find and this guy had sold several before mine so I felt "safe" with the deal and it was just coincidental that I had the money. (it's been 8 months ago..)
I don't remember who it was, but, Benjamen T bought from the same guy. (I'm not sure I spelled Benj. correctly) Benj's experience was drawn out and painful, but eventually he got the right goods. I haven't had any complaints on mine.
