Default RPM question

i've noticed that on cruice control while going 60mph my gs400 is slightly above 2000 rpms..my buddies 3.2 tl (not type s) is at 1800 rbp goin the same speed...can u explain how his v6 has more power then my v8?

It has nothing to do with power.
It's all about gear ratios, his car has a "longer" overdrive.

I've driven the TL as well - nice ride. One big difference occurs when you step on it to pass another car or go up a steep hill. The 430 will drop to 4th and the TL will go all the way to 3rd as a result of the different gear ratios and power provided by the V8 vs. 6 respectively. Due to the TL gearing, 4th does not have a great deal of power on the highway, but rather in the city when the RPMs are more usable.
