Low idle issue, with a twist

thanks man. i have to drive my lex back which means putting the stock rims and wheels back on and shipping my lowenharts.. thats no fun huh, a halfway cross country drive with no rims, and i gots ta wait for like 6-8 weeks in d.c. with no rims until my stuff gets there. and i'm especially not looking forward to an 18 hour drive, but if you have to do it, i guess a gs is not a bad choice to do it in huh?

my mom stays in reston and i graduated high school in herndon; both are in fairfax county (end of the orange line) if your not familiar with the VA side. i'm lookin at the bethesda area or the arlington springfield area, considering i get a job in dc and all. what part of maryland do you stay in? what do you think of the bethesda area??? i know ma is strict about car mods, do they ever give you beef about it all? i gots limo tint all the way around and i know that would probably not fly in maryland...

when u get ur car inspected here in md.. which actually i can help u pass they wont pass it with that tint.. but i havea guy depending wut it is that wont pass he may write up a inspection slip for about $200... md is bad bout things done to ur car but not as bad as northern VA lol...i heard many horror stories in Nova lol... bethesda is a great lively area.. its a lil more costly than arlington.. but u'll enjoy the area very much!!.. bethesda is about 10-15 min from me.. glad to have another Gs in the area

yeah i used to know this old mexican dude in herndon that would pass my old eclipse's (1st and 2nd gen) for like 20$ extra in his pocket. this was like 6-8 years ago so i doubt he would still be there. that gas stand is one of the first places i am going to stop by when i get there though. my wife and i already have a bet going about how long i can drive in va without the inspection stickers on it. i have va tags but the vehicle has never been in va (so no insp). if that old guy doesn't work there anymore, and my old shops can't help me out, then i will def. be contacting you. if the tint is the only not so legal thing on it currently would it still cost 200$ cuz that is a little steep. i can see if you had an engine swap and no catilyc (not sure of spelling) converter, with turbos and such. can you possibly find out how much to just overlook the tint? i would appreciate it. this reminds me of being back in japan (its all about money over there). thanks man,

Alright this is what fixed my low idle problem on my 98' GS400.
1. Make sure your air filter is clean.
2. MAke sure your plugs are in decent shape. I had Torque master plugs with about 50k on them. Went back to OEM and the idle was much better.
3. Manually adjust the throttle stop on the throttle body or tighten the cable up slightly. If possible reset the TPS. THis cheating and it works but what other options?

This is EXACTLY what I did on my 99 GS400. I went back to the stock air filter from the K&N, cleaned my throttle body, and replaced the sparkplugs. Then I adjusted the idle by tightening the cable a slight amount. After I reset the computer things have been great ever since. I did have a broken drivers' side motor mount that contributed to my engine vibration. The engine wasn't missing but felt like it was.
Things are great even after a long trip from California to New Orleans and back.

You know what guys, the gs400, the thing that probably fixed your idle is the adjustment of the TB cable, not going back to stock everything. I had stock everything, changed air filter to stock, spark plugs are stock, cleaned TB, and maf sensor. Guess what, nothing changed. Us 430 guys can't adjust any slack on the TB.
