Default Exhaust cutout anyone???

Anyone here have experiences with exhaust cutout? I want to go this route because I want some free flowing exhaust when I'm at the strip but quiet for daily driving. This setup will definely be a sleeper setup since it retain the stock look. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Can you explain in more detail exactly what you mean by exhaust cutout?

Where do you plan on installing the cutouts, before or after the cats? I personally don't think that there is anything to gain from a wide open exhaust, I actually think it will hurt the overall performance on the IS more than it will help. This is not to say that the IS can't benefit from some exhaust work I just don't think this is the way to do it.

That is hilarious. I can just imagine driving up to the staging lanes and hitting a switch to divert the exhaust flow and the car suddenly sounding very intimidating. Now if it would actually work on the car or not is another question, but it is very interesting. One thing for sure is you'll actually be able to hear and see the car going down the strip instead of just seeing if go.

I was looking at something like this here http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/Controller/.
I would have the cutout after the cat since I dont' know how the cat will react if the cutout is done before it. I dont' think it will hurt the car performance if it's done after the cat but I might be wrong. If it hurt anything it will hurt the low end torque since our car is has high compression but it will be a monster up top.

I grew up in the 60's and all of us guys (kids) had cutouts. We would weld them in a curved area so when they were open it was straight through. With our exhaust having the Y you could have a shop weld a straight through pipe in the middle of the Y. Hope this makes sense. Don't know about performance gain but should sound good (or bad) .

Aloha,
Larry

In around 1965 The GTO Judge came with electric cutouts, operational hood scoop intake and Hurst shifter. That was the only year I believe available. Pretty mean car for those days.

The Judge was in 1969 & 1970 ( I believe). I beat most of them with my Dodge Super Bee Street racing one night and beat the baddest Judge in Toledo. The next morning all of my wheels had been stolen. Word (rumor) was that he was a bad loser. (but still a loser )

Aloha

I had an electric cut out on my Dodge Ram (HEMI engine) and it sound freakin awesome, but that was a V8.

I am interested to hear one on a IS250 to see if it sounds good, if so I will buy one.

Don't buy a quicktime cutout though as they only offer 1 year warentee I think.

Buy from DMH @ DMHPerformance.com ; That is where I bought the one for my Ram at and it work perfectly and sounded awesome, plus no hassel warentee for I think 3 years. If anyone gets one please PM me with the results.
