Default What? How are you supposed to do that? (K&N intake installation)

How funny! I'm stuck on the first step of the installation of K&N typhoon intake. It says, "Turn the ignition OFF (i KNOW how to do that) and disconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable." How am I suppoed to disconnect that? Am I supposed to unscrew the cable on the negative terminal of the battery? Also, is there any safety issue involved? Please enlighten me! Thank you!

Yes Unscrew The Negative Terminal... And As Long As You Dont Ground It (i Mean Touch It To Your Car) You Will Be Fine.... Wrap A Towel Around It After You Have Disconnected It....

just disconnect the battery entirely if you're so worried.

You really don't need to disconnect the battery. You can accomplish the same thing by performing the following procedure, found by lobuxracer in the FSM:

(Without using an intelligent tester)
(a) Perform either one of the following operations:
(1) Disconnect the negative battery cable for more than 1 minute.
(2) Remove the EFI and ETCS fuses from the Engine Room No. 2 relay block, junction block located inside the engine compartment for more than 1 minute.

OMG. I really do not think you should install the intake since you do not how to disconnect the battery.

you should leave it up to someone who knows what they are doing.

OKOK. Quick quiz... What is the most common bolt size in all imports? Hint.. it is either SAE or MM.

He'll be fine... it's not like he's doing a Nav-hack or something.

Thank you for your very positive reply! It's my first car. I've never done such thing. Everyone has their first time. Think about your first time playing with your car. I'm just a beginner, a learner. I'll get there!!

Generally, it's just standard procedure, it seems anytime you do anything they tell you to d/c the neg. terminal. But I guess in this instance it's because there is a ground wire under the air box you have to d/c install a longer stud, and reconect the new air shield and the groundwire to the same new stud. I still don't know if the ground really needs to be d/c'd. I did mine anyway just because it's no big deal.

Don't know why ppl want to make a fun of some1, who wants to get some help. Everyone had 1st time to learn about cars.. and we should value his willingness to do things on his car by himself. To me, it looks much better than those others who don't know anything about cars, but just taking to the shop.
