Default Weird smell coming from Borla exhaust.

I just got my Borla rear section exhaust installed today. Its putting out a weird smell. Almost like something is burning? I've read about newer pipes having a weird smell for the first week or two but I bought these pipes used on ebay. Is this normal?

Here is the exhaust. I just noticed that huge scratch on the bumper from these pictures. Ugh, it looks like someone tapped my bumper and scraped some of the paint off. I am going to call my insurance company on Monday and get them to pay for a touch up before it starts to chip.

Yeah...every time I do exhaust mods, I get the burning smell for a a bit (about a week) and then it goes away. For me, it is usually a coating they put on the piping.

Thats what I've been reading. But thats a bit weird because these pipes were used for 1-2 years prior. Maybe its because they've been sitting for a while?

Could be. Maybe a build up of some sort?

I don't think it's a build up. The pipes were almost spotless when I received them.

Very deep and very loud! It's going to take me a little time to get use to it. The vibration and noise hit a certain level in the ears. I tried recording a video with my digital camera but the microphone is too weak to pick up how deep it is. I will try to get a better recording with my regular video camera this coming week.

Were these sold to you as GS specific exhaust or were they generic? The reason I ask... the tips at least are not what comes on any Borla (newer or older style) exhaust for the 2GS I've ever seen.

Those are some discontinued exhausts he bought on eBay. It has no muffler just a straight pipe.

From what I've been told. The muffler is built in the tips.

These pipes are about two years old and are discontinued. From what I've read, they didnt sell too many. They had to be bent a little to align perfectly with the rear bumper arch. But the auction stated it is completely street legal and fits

Here are a few pictures I shot before they were installed.
