Custom Magnaflow Exhaust Installed- review-
Part Numbers Used-
14235 Mufflers
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=616
35125 Tips
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=675
(I went with a 3.5" tip because I like my cars slightly understated- a 4" tip would have looked good as well though)
Price-
$90 per muffler, $28 per tip, $60 for installation
Total= $296 (this is what you would expect to pay at a muffler shop)
Note- I did not touch the factory Y pipe or the factory piping- I was looking mostly for sound- the Y pipe and piping are probably costing me about 1-1.5 hp
Performance Gains-
?????? I have no idea- Considering the axle backs are picking up around 5rwhp with bigger piping, and I left the piping stock Im going to guess I probably picked up about 3rwhp
Seat of the pants feel- none- props to anyone who can feel 3-5hp increase on a 306hp car because I sure can't...LOL
Now the best part- Sound-
Think stock G35 coupe- at idle, it adds a deep note, which from inside the car can only really be heard with the radio off- from the outide you can hear a little deep rumble- subtle- but its definitely there-
During acceleration the car is noticably deeper from the inside- very subtle though- unitil the higher RPM where it sounds almost stock but slightly louder-
Freeway speeds- the car pretty much sounds stock inside- so no drone what so ever-
From the outside- the car sounds incredible driving away - very sublte- but definitely not stock- very close volume wise to a stock G35 coupe- nice and deep- exactly what I was looking for- Im not a fan of loud exhausts- and definitely not on a Lexus-
Looks- I forgot my digital camera- but will add pictures this weekend- looks much better with the polished mufflers and I love the tips-
Overall I am very satisfied, and because it was not very expensive- I went ahead and ordered the K&N FIPK kit which should be here tomorrow-
EDIT*****
If anyone would like to see or hear it- I live in North Orange County, CA- so just PM me-

PICTURES- Custom Magnaflow Set Up-
OK..borrowed camera from a coworker- YES my car is dirty right now- but I just got back from a business trip-
As I mentioned in the other thread- I like my cars slightly understated- so I went with a little bit smaller tip (3.5")- I could have gone with a 4" tip to match the other aftermarket systems out there-

I like it, looks good. Now it would be great if you have a sound clip. I'm sure it could be done with your coworker digital camera . Am I asking too much ?
Oh yeah, I noticed that you are in CA, where did you do it?

I will have to work on that next- its an older camera- doesnt record anything-
I had it done at a custom exhaust shop in Rancho Santa Margarita- Awesome Exhaust- this is actually the 3rd IS done there-
He did one 350 and one 250 before my car- in which he removed the resonator on the 350- and the customer brought it back an hour later because it was way too loud inside the car-

Basically I did a muffler replacement- With out tax, this set up would come out to less then $300- but provide the sound minus 1-2hp that the axleback systems give you-

I was wondering, is this reversible process? I mean if i dont like it, can i still put the stock muffler back?
is there cutting and welding involved?

the shop I took it to offered to weld my stock ones back on or different mufflers for $40 if I didnt like the way it came out- because I told him I wasnt sure how these would sound-
If you are looking for an exhaust on the quieter side of the spectrum, I would definitely take this set up into consideration- it is definitely more on the subtle side-
