Default Dyno Results Post Safc-ii Tune *+16hp/+42tq*

Went into SR Motorcars in Gardena, CA, yesterday to get the SAFC-II that my boy installed for me tuned to the car. We did a baseline run and I got 244HP/241TQ. The guys tuned the car to a 13:1 A/F ratio, resulting in a final run of 260HP/283TQ

The type of dyno was a DynoJet.

Where I am the happiest is not just the peak numbers, but that the biggest gains are actually between 3800rpm and 5000rpm.

My only mod is a cat-back exhaust with 2.25" piping.

They sent me an email with all the dyno runs, but its got a .drf extension and I've tried multiple programs to open or view them and still havent had any succcess with that. If someone can show me how to post files or just email it to them and they can post the pics up that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again to SR Motorcars, they really know their stuff. They've got a bunch of SC's in the shop, and are looking for more GS's to work on. Deff recommend them to anyone out there.

Good dyno #'s for just the mods you have. I'm glad to see this because I keep hearing that you can't get much out of the VVTI 4.0 motor with Piggybacks. Everyone keeps saying the ECU adjust so well but funny that each time I see a dyno tune with Piggybacks they result in 15 - 20 hp gains and even more in the midrange rpm's.

I just got a New Unichip for my 98 SC400 VVTI and am looking forward to tuning it in on the dyno with A/F adjustments, Timming adjustments and , adjustable feul pressuse adjustments.

WOW. How much was for tuning and dyno and how long did it take?

All i have now is an intake, and a borla exhaust (will most likely make a catback extention) so i'm sure the SAFC will free up a good amount of power!

First of all, Great Dyno

Makes me finally want to complete my air/fuel timing map and scrap my over-hyped SRT ECU unit.

What gear did you Dyno in for reference?

NOTE: That .DRF extension is rare and rather obscure. It most likely belongs to a company called AutoDesk. I also will extend my help for posting the Dyno if you or GSteg need it.

drf is dynojet's run format, you can download the viewer at http://www.dynojet.com/downloads/software.aspx

What kind of Catback do you have ?

Do you know what your A/F ratio was before you adjusted it ?

GS42NV,
Awesome #'s for stock intake box , the base Hp is a llittle higher than most and the base TQ is a little lower. but , what matters is it is a base line to campare everything to.
Do you know what gear they used 3rd or 4th? Go to their site and down load the WINPEP file. It is great that they gave you the file now you can compare hp vs. TQ vs RPM vs,speed and A/F ratio.

If you send them to me I can open it up for you. I've done a few of them send them to
www.gillti2@hotmail.com

Great #'s how many runs did they do for your base line?

To get the graph info. from your file, Go to the Dynojet site and down load the WINPEP7 file.

1.Go to the "WINPEP7 DYNAMOMETER SOFTWARE section
2.Go down and select the Animated Tutorials part
3.Go to the "GETTING STARTED " section and select Graphing a Run

This is a nice tutorial on how to get and run the graph from your Dynojet down loaded file.

I did the install for him, if you’d like pm or call me and ill give you step by step instructions on how to do it. It took me about 3 hours for the install, the connections took 20 minutes, 5 minutes to run thru the firewall and 2 and a half hours to do the fabrication work to fit the damn thing in the ash tray. Looking back on it, I would have done a better job if I took my time but by that time I was soo tired I just wanted to finish the thing...

I'd like a copy of that instruction too! All I have is a picture of the ECU labeled, but I like to research twice before I do anything.

I prefer instructions in PM just because I forget easily. You tell me one thing and 5 minutes later, I forget. It's nice to have a reference

Default dyno pics

the only performance mod I had pre-SAFC2 was just the exhaust. It's 2.25" piping to the middle resonator and everything stock from there forward. Pre-tune i'm not sure since he didnt really mention it to me, just said he adjusted the range to 13:1 A/F across the board. I'm around 9-13% correction in high throttle past 3800rpm.

Thanks to Lex*Toy and GILLEXUS for the help on how to get the dyno opened. I was able to convert to jpeg, so here's the before and after run...

In terms of install, gotta ask Lexiss_sc400 since he did all the work. I know the wiring is a little tricky and you cant trust the wiring diagram Apex-i gives.

1st run was done in 3rd...final was done in 5th. Ive got 3 runs in 3rd, and 2 in 5th...please let me know if you want me to post those up as well (separated and/or together)

Thanks for all the compliments guys
