Default Aftermarket HKS Hi-Power or Tanabe

Hey, whats up? Im planning on getting one or the other and Im trying to figure out which one people are most happy with; Im gonna have an intake added to this also. I hurd that the HKS looks really BIG! and the Tanabe is nice and quite, and im looking for a nice medium sound but with agressive tone and something that adds the most hp. Can you guys please post pictures as well so we can compare on the sizes.
Thanks CL for the help!!

I'm leaning towards the Tanabe. From what I gather on the threads, it's a little quieter than the HKS but still gives you a nice exhaust note. They're also half the weight of stock (20 lbs v. 40 lbs) while the HKS is only 7lb? lighter than stock.

Is the Tanabe really that light?

according to Tanabe, yes. It might get you through the quarter ~.02 quicker.

But isn't Tanabe just mufflers where HKS is the full exhaust? Or am I thinking of LMS?

IMO the Tanabe is too quiet, Id take the HKS over the Tanabe. Im going with a HKS setup but not that one.

The comments from some owners about the droning made me cross off the HKS exhaust.

I say go with Tanabe and remove the cats. OR...Wait and see if Borla finally releases their Off-road version.

i was actually thinking about doing that, but i'm not in a rush right now. i'll wait till the summer to see if anyone else decides to release a full catback. the tanabe has the only tips that i like.

I deleted the mid muffler on my last ride and put in a little glasspack to reduce weight and got some serious droning. It sounded awesome at WOT though.

QUESTION: How well do these exhaust systems fit in with the various rear lip spoilers provided by INGS+1, Toms, or the OEM factory rear lip ??? I'm assuming you wouldn't be able to use the INGS+1 rear kit with the HKS exhaust b/c the pipes are too big ???

The piping has nothing to do with the rear lip of any brand, its the tip that you should worry about, but even then the tips are made to fit already so you should have no problem with rear lip fitment.

Question for those of who think HKS is too loud. Is it really that loud that bothers you? meaning is it somewhat vibrating while sitting on the car? the sound clip is helpful, but does not provide an actual experience.
I am somewhat in the same boat as *is350. Trying to choose between HKS Hi-Power vs. Tanabe. I don't want the exhaust to be too quiet, but not too loud. I loved the sound of HKS Hi-power when I had it on my 240SX before. If the sound and performance would be similar to the one on my 240sx, I would go for Hi-Power. If it's louder than that, I will probably go for tanabe.
