Default good news from borla?

Thank you for contacting BORLA PERFORMANCE. Both systems will be available. I would make sure the tracks you will be racing on don't have a strict DB limit otherwise our off road system may be to loud. If you have additional questions regarding Borla exhaust check out our web site www.Borla.com you may contact me Direct anytime Mon-Fri 8:30-5:00 PST with questions or concerns
Regarding our products.

Thanks

both systems referring to the old 'off road' exhaust, and a new one that will be street legal. take it with half a grain of salt though

I though the Borla exhaust wasn't available yet, so I wonder then what this is:

Does anyone know if their system is a true dual or an X-pipe design?

Hopefully it will be the same design that they almost offered a couple months ago (X-pipe). I don't think any true dual design would compare in performance to an X-pipe design.

I'm sure the non "off road" version will just be a regular old axle-back.

I am surprised about their statement regarding DB limits. It must be pretty damn loud!

You do realize that there are TWO versions, right? I suspect that one will be a regular axle-back so that it can be totally SMOG legal, and the "off road only" version will probably be the "primary cat" back unit that replaces the secondary cats.

i think that was just a deterrent for buying it as a street use exhaust. obviously it was quiet enough for street use when they first offered it.

has anyone tried ordering this from hopup? i always heard they were a sketch site

Not necessarily. Tracks like Laguna Seca have very tough noise abatement rules. Many aftermarket exhausts aren't quiet enough there.

I've heard about their sound restrictions, but I would still expect their restrictions to be more lenient than any state's road car restrictions.

They're not. Not even close. Laguna is very tough. CHP lets a lot of crap go because they don't worry about it until they want to pop your hood and look for illegal mods (and almost anything in the engine compartment is illegal except drop-in replacement air filters.)
