However, that still doesn't change the fact that extreme changes in outer tire diameter will effect VDIM.
Good point on the tire diameter. I didn't think of the fact that you can't mount a sensor on the tire itself so, you're absolutely right, big changes in tire diameter will certainly affect speed calculation.

I am the inventor the '06 VDIM disable box. I posted info last July, built one box (that I use), decided that the number of complainers threatening to sue on other topics didn't warrant building them, there weren't enough 2IS entusiasts.. and got a stern post from the people here about advertising them for sale here.

You certainly don't have to buy a '07 $1,400 skid control box to disable the VDIM and have the MIL come on. For that functionality just unplug the brake load or yaw connector. Pretty obnoxious complaining from the computer though.

My disable box basically does the pedal dance. I have released the design to public domain but it is rather difficult to build. The car's ECU will only accept the VDIM disable instructions for the first 15-30 seconds after the car is started and before it is driven.

I wonder if the speed limiter is disabled when the VDIM is? I'll have to test that one.

Has anyone tried unplugging the skid control ECU, or putting a switch on the power wire to the skid control ECU? I wouldn't be surprised if that caused "limp mode", but it is worth a try.

The new ECU lists for $1492.94. It actually costs more than the engine ECM.
where exactly is this ECU? I can't seem to locate from the diagram.
