VDIM fundamentals -- Think you know??

The speed sensors are on the hubs, not the wheels, and the sensors doen't just count the number of rull rotations like the bicycle sensor you speek of. It would be more like having a separate magnet on each spoke of the bicycle wheel so it could calculate speed with extreme precision.
However, that still doesn't change the fact that extreme changes in outer tire diameter will effect VDIM.

I am the inventor the '06 VDIM disable box. I posted info last July, built one box (that I use), decided that the number of complainers threatening to sue on other topics didn't warrant building them, there weren't enough 2IS entusiasts.. and got a stern post from the people here about advertising them for sale here.
You certainly don't have to buy a '07 $1,400 skid control box to disable the VDIM and have the MIL come on. For that functionality just unplug the brake load or yaw connector. Pretty obnoxious complaining from the computer though.
My disable box basically does the pedal dance. I have released the design to public domain but it is rather difficult to build. The car's ECU will only accept the VDIM disable instructions for the first 15-30 seconds after the car is started and before it is driven.
I wonder if the speed limiter is disabled when the VDIM is? I'll have to test that one.

It takes about 5 minutes to do the swap if you work slowly. You only need a 10mm socket on a short extension to remove the three screws holding in the skid control ECU. Everything else snaps apart/together.
The new ECU lists for $1492.94. It actually costs more than the engine ECM.
