no, the lms exhaust is not smog legal. but you dont have to get your car smogged until 4 years after the purchase.
i think dual ehaust is better than like an X-pipe or something. but dont quote me on this...but im sure a dual exhaust helps by allowing the engine to pump out more emissions

good thing we aren't quoting you then.
anyways a true dual exhaust is most beneficiary to 8+ cylinder engines. single pipe back is actually the best for a v6 like ours when it comes to performance. however since we have dual exits a true dual system some want a true dual exhaust.
the LMS exhaust has an H pipe which allows the exhaust to equalize its pressure on each side. the Borla dual exhaust has an X pipe that works similarly and with the same function. the Megan exhaust removes the secondary cats, as do the Borla off road version and the LMS, and rolls into a single resonator then to two mufflers.
until all three (four if you count the legal borla system) are dyno'd we won't be able to tell which one makes the most power. however the significant difference between the LMS exhaust and its predecessors was its removal of the secondary cats, so by deduction we can assume there is a good amount of power to be had out of them.

There is no case where separate exhaust has an advantage. Ever. Single pipe (or X, H, "crossover") always makes more power than dual or multiple exhausts. If there are mufflers involved, then there is a weight advantage to a single exhaust too.

I had the LMS exhaust.
I removed the LMS exhaust
Power Gains are more towards the High End as I felt it, but I did definitely feel something, now that I think of it. (After removing) no where near 25hp-rwp
But, you loose some Low-end power in exchange for some Mid-range Power.
You also gain a lot of Cabin Drone, which is amplified when going up hill, and since I drive on the freeway--a lot, with plenty of uphill inclines, I decided it was not what I was looking for after a long day at work...
Otherwise, I would have kept this exhaust, and made my own modifications to it.
Any other questions please ask me....

I have been to the dyno, but I don't trust the results. The test before I installed the exhaust was months before with very different ambient conditions, and it didn't show any increase OR decrease in peak power when I tested again after installing the exhuast. However, I'm convinced based on my 1/4 mile times that it made a significant difference.

Yeah I'm with Gernby. He and Combfilter both did a similar job with exhaust modification and both put down pretty much the quickest 1/4 mile times. I doubt they are both factory monsters, though I think Gernby's is. Either way, Combilter ran a 13.3 something and Gerby ran a 13.2 something which are both quicker than most stock IS350's. Definitly some power was made with their custom exhaust and I plan on doing similar in the future. Just waiting for my Tanabe exhaust to arrive. On backorder for a few weeks.
