Default Any ideas what Team Lexus does for a tranny

So before I decide that there are no viable options for a built HIgh hp tranny for the GS400. I thought I might find out what the team lexus guys do for their high HP transmission.

Does anyone know? The future of my relationship with my GS hangs in the balance.

Hi Morris,

According to this thread:

http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=417870

The trans used was the V160.

Thats an IS300, I believe they also ran a heavily modified GS400, thats the info I was hoping for.

But thanks for trying.

Nope too much money and I refuse to be the first, it is unproven and no one seems to have any details on how to make it work with the Stock ECU, would also have to do some fabrication to mount the pedals and clutch cylinder on the firewall etc. That equals addtional cost and doesnt even take in to account the things that the first guinea pig will run into that no one for saw.

Basically the way I see it a 6speed conversion is somewhere between 6-10K.

What I may wind up doing is selling the car all together.

Someone has done it on CL, i forgot his name but he exists in one of my threads from the past. Honestly, I'd just sell my car, save up 15g, and get a prestine condition supra tt.

So are you still trying to figure out how to keep 5spd auto after pushing more than 400rwhp? Larry @ SP says there isn't an option besides going 4spd or using a TH400 based tranny.

I have come to the realization that after 400+ hp the stock tranny will not hold no matter how much they say they can build it to handle more.

I am dissapointed that I easily have 800 rwhp in the car but cant get it to the ground, so I am almost ready to call it quits

Morris,

The Team Lexus GS as I recall only had a SRT intake + ECU and exhaust... no where near the HP you're pushing.

I remember seeing your GS up at Mahdavi quite a few times when I lived in Atlanta (every time now that I think of it )...after all you've been through, it would be a shame to see you let her go.

Best of luck in finding an effective solution, bro.

Jeff
