Default Questions about exhaust and intake

So, I just got my Tanabes installed a couple days ago and they look/sound awesome! After the install, my friend told me to reset my ECU/computer by disconnecting the negative side of the battery for 12 hours...has anyone done this before? Why do I have to do it?

Intake question...I want to buy intake but all of the intakes that are out right now are metal...and knowing how hot it gets in my neighborhood (easily 100+ during summer) maybe I should stick with the stock intake and just buy a K&N filter? How will they both effect the car's performance on a hot and cold day?

Thanks in advance.

Check out Section Four OEM Tips & Tricks in the FAQ. ECM reset is there. Whether it is worth your time or not is another question. You don't have to do it, but some people believe it will "learn" your new setup faster if you do. It's entirely up to you.

Thanks lobuxracer.
Does anyone have an answer to the intake question?

Read this to your heart's content - then you'll understand why people here are wary of asking intake questions...
