A simple mod - exhaust tips only
I just got some new exhaust tips put on my car. I didn't want to stray away from the quiet ride of the stock system and I didn't want to pay a lot of $. I did, however, want to get a more aggressive look. So, I just had some 3.5'' tips welded onto the back of my mufflers. For the tips and installation, it was $97 at a local muffler shop. The guy did a great job making sure it lined up properly with the body of my car (involved cutting). Took just 35 mins. to install. I took a quick picture with my digital camera so the quality is low and I actually over-exposed it a bit so that the tips are visible. Sorry for the poor quality/lighting. I'll try to get a better picture up later with my SLR. Anyway, just thought I'd share it for those wanting a nicer look without the added sound/cost.

Thanks for posting this up and giving me the final thoughts on what I want to do with my exhaust. I want to keep the car at stock noise levels but definitely want to get rid of the puny stock tips. Even the G35s have better looking tips. BTW, is your IS orange? Never seen that color on the streets before.

I agree, I do sometimes want a nice exhuast note as I'm stepping on it. I was pretty tempted to change out the mufflers too but I still haven't actually heard an IS350 with aftermarket exhaust and wanted to wait until I do. I also still do like the silent, sleek stock setup. Too bad you can't just flip a switch and go back and forth...

Actually you can! Get a Fujita or LMS intake. It's quiet under normal driving conditions, but when you step on it, it sounds very if not extremely aggresive! as if you had an exhaust system! All my buddies think it sounds great! Best of all, it satisfies both my wife and I. She hates loud cars and I like for it to sound aggresive. Like a switch =)
By the way, great job on the tips. I was actually thinking of doing the same thing.
