SRT 'ecu' ?

SRT 'ecu' ?
I'm sure this is a common question for new people to ask about, but the search page wouldn't respond to SRT or SRT ECU... so sorry in advance if this has been covered.
What is the SRT intake's "ECU"?
some kind of pre-programmed piggy-back that alters the MAF reading to create a leaner a/f mix from stock?
is this where all the power increase associated w/ the SRT vs. a filter on a stick comes from?

Yeah, unfortunately search won't let you look for 3 characters or less. Can also try with wildcard SRT*ECU ecu* etc.
SRT's ECU is a piggyback that adjusts air/fuel similar to an SAFC but hardcoded data for a GS400, GS430 or GS300. SRT can update it if you're close enough or send them a dyno with air/fuel and they can mail it back. The SRT intake tube is also a bit bigger than OEM expects for more airflow, so it doesn't work (or work well) without the ECU. Also has a heat shield around the intake filter that helps.

cool.. i've seen the stock dynos of GS400's making around 12:1 creeping to upper 12's / low 13's at redline. What does the a/f usually read w/ the SRT intake and piggyback?
does it only affect the a/f ratio?

Here's a thread where I gathered some other links https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...highlight=dyno

cool, thanks for the info.
it sounded like some people didn't really have any noticeable power increase from the intake/ecu while some other people made decent sized gains w/ an exhaust system.
sounds like something that could be a result of the generic piggyback programming or maybe the intake system in the GS400 is efficient enough that no major gains will be found here.
I'm shopping for a GS400 to daily drive and keep the GTI in the garage while i'm commuting to work, so maybe I'd be best served to just leave it stock since even the optimistic intake/exhaust dynos aren't really worth the chance of netting no gains.
