Default Borla droning issues solved

Finally had the chance to take the car down to the shop and get it up on the lift.

Retightened all of the connections and it sounds great!

So deep and throaty, no excessive droning at the 2000-2500rpm range. Still loud but a good loud.

And over the course of about 3k miles my mileage is up about 2mph on average (23.5-24 around town, 28-29 highway) with the combination of the JoeZ, the high flow airfilter (Blitz for the most part) and the Borla exhaust.

The Borla exhaust isn't welded, it uses connectors which are tightened down.

Of course you could weld it.

I doubt locktite would help with this issue since the fittings are slip fittings not bolted flanges.

Actually, I think retightening the junctions after everything settles is the best solution.

Or using a torque wrench to assemble to ensure there is even tension on all the fasteners.

I don't think that would really apply to the Borla exhaust since it uses slip joints with clamps, right?

T-bolt clamps or screw clamps? If they're T-bolt (my favorites) then yes, torque wrench and safety wire (just like we do on aircraft.)

32 thou should hold it in place if it's a T-bolt.

If I were installing the Borla exhaust, I would intentionally undertighten the clamps so that the joints would settle in after a few miles before tightening everything down. Otherwise you could wind up with the exhaust not quite hanging right.
